Gildersome is the village I grew up in and when I was asked to produce a painting of its now demolished Manor House, I was happy to take up the challenge. There is one surviving black and white photograph of the dwelling, but by the time it was taken, the Manor House had been reduced to a single storey cottage with a tiled roof. However historical records show that it was originally thatched so I have added that. To the right of the building was a pinfold and there were farm buildings to the left, so I have suggested both in the painting.
