Artist's Description
Skipwith Common is one of my most visited places in Yorkshire. It is the largest expanse of heathland bog left in Northern England. It's almost unique environment make it an artists dream. Silver birch are one of my favourite trees and again, as an artist, they are a joy to see and paint at any time and any season. This scene on a very wet tarmac road (a remnant from WW2 days when the RAF had bunkers here to store ordnance) highlights the contrast between shadows and reflections - always a good subject.
