I am doing a stint as artist in residence at the beautiful Burton Agnes Hall this April(and again in September) so wanted to concentrate my exhibition on the Hall and the surrounding area. As it nestles inside the gloriously unspoiled Yorkshire Wolds I was spoiled for choice. Anyway this is the painting that will be the centrepiece of my exhibition. I wanted to do a very traditional English landscape in watercolour so chose this view of Bridlington Priory from Woldgate on the famous Hockney Trail. Using a lot of artistic licence I have tried to give that classic 'feel' to the work. It was great fun to do and I am rather pleased with it.....for once!
LIGHT.......inspires me LEGEND.......intrigues me LANDSCAPE inspires me! I have letters after my name...F.O.L....but it is not 'Fellow of..' but 'Fell Off'...a ladder! While waiting for operations on my knees I took up painting to pass the time. Like so many other people I soon became hooked and embarked on a fascinating journey to learn how to improve and develop my style..a journey that never ends...but what a trip! I took the plunge in 2003 and with the support of my lovely wife I began to paint full time.
