This was the final painting in my 'Follow the Leader' series - an exploration in watercolour of the large oil paintings by Benjamin Williams Leader RA. This is not a copy but closely based on an original concept by Leader.It is also typical of a style of painting that developed in the Victorian age. All the detail is on the periphery and in the background with a fairly uneventful foreground. The composition certainly works though as it emphasises the space and scale of the piece.

LIGHT.......inspires me LEGEND.......intrigues me LANDSCAPE inspires me! I have letters after my name...F.O.L....but it is not 'Fellow of..' but 'Fell Off'...a ladder! While waiting for operations on my knees I took up painting to pass the time. Like so many other people I soon became hooked and embarked on a fascinating journey to learn how to improve and develop my style..a journey that never ends...but what a trip! I took the plunge in 2003 and with the support of my lovely wife I began to paint full time.
