Description
We have a recent heavy snowfall, which seems to be more unusual than in the winters when we were kids. Maybe it is just a bit of nostalgia, but we used to have proper snow back in the day. I lived in a small village called Gildersome which is situated in the West Riding of Yorkshire. In the early 1960's I went to Batley Grammar School which was a good half hour bus ride away. Fortified by a big dish of porridge, come rain, shine or snow, I had to make the daily mile walk to the bus stop at Church Corner to wait for the Batley bus. This iPad figure-doodle is a reminder of those days. The school made no allowances for bus timetables and if you were late more than once in a week, you qualified for automatic Saturday morning detention. This often meant a hasty dash up the steep Carlinghow Hill before the bell rang!
