Artist's Description

Our ‘Penny Lane’ skirts the village of Burton Fleming on its western edge. I doubt that its famous cousin in Liverpool has a view like this leading from it.
You do not see as many poppies as we used to do back in the good old days, so it was a delightful surprise to see this field full of them. It could be that they are being grown as a cash crop for their seeds, but whatever – I was simply happy to enjoy (and paint) this glorious spectacle.
