Artist's Description

This is the next painting in my ‘Once Upon a Time’ series. For this one, I have imagined that the famous Victorian painter – Joseph Farquharson, visited Yorkshire. Apart from the fact that he was a wonderful painter, he also has an interesting tale to tell. Farquharson became Laird of a Scottish Estate by default after the unfortunate demise of several brothers who were in line to inherit before him. Already a successful painter of winter landscapes, he quickly took advantage of his newfound wealth. He liked to paint outdoors but that was an arduous business in Scotland especially in winter. So, he had a mobile studio constructed that was transported to his chosen location. He could then paint away through the open door while still enjoying the comfort of a roaring fire and the odd tot of brandy! Sheep figure in most of his paintings but he had a problem there. The pesky blighters wouldn’t pose outside his mobile studio. This is no problem when you are a rich Scottish Laird. He...
