Artist's Description

Sometimes a painting can take on a life of its own. This one was supposed to be from a sketch I did in 2019 of floods here in the Yorkshire Wolds. We do not have rivers in the Wolds, but as the painting developed it insisted on becoming a river. Never mind – I have always enjoyed strolling (and painting!) on riverbanks, so did not complain when this bucolic scene emerged.
