On a rare dry day for this month, we headed off for the wide-open spaces of the North York Moors national Park. This lovely road meanders from Pickering and just a few miles further on, you are in the breath-taking expanses of the wild moors. This is a very simplified painting of the scene. I have tried to strip away a lot of detail, leaving just enough to tell the story. I used a limited palette and concentrated on the contrasts and light – an attempt at interpretation as much as observation.
LIGHT.......inspires me LEGEND.......intrigues me LANDSCAPE inspires me! I have letters after my name...F.O.L....but it is not 'Fellow of..' but 'Fell Off'...a ladder! While waiting for operations on my knees I took up painting to pass the time. Like so many other people I soon became hooked and embarked on a fascinating journey to learn how to improve and develop my style..a journey that never ends...but what a trip! I took the plunge in 2003 and with the support of my lovely wife I began to paint full time. Since then I have had the good fortune to exhibit in many prestigious galleries and shows, selling paintings all over the world.
