Artist's Description
Swaledale sheep are a common feature of the North York National Park. They are a hardy bunch that roams freely throughout the moors. They do an important job. Their constant grazing keeps the grasses short and enables the heather to flourish. Often you can find them on or near to roads. They are so used to traffic that they hardly give you a glance when you drive by. Unfortunately their familiarity does result in fatalities so it is always best to be aware of them and not drive too fast though why anyone would want to speed through this beautiful landscape is beyond me. Recently we did a little tour of the western fringes of the park starting at Sutton Bank and heading over t’tops via Hawnby, Osmotherley and finishing up with a picnic by the river in the lovely little village of Swainby. We encountered many sheep on the way and this painting is a reminder of a delightful day.

Since then I have had the good fortune to exhibit in many prestigious galleries and shows, selling paintings all over the world. I am also a Professional Associate Tutor of the Society of All Artists and...
