While studying the paintings of the forgotten Benjamin Williams Leader RA, I found out that one of his paintings was stored in the vaults of the Ferens Art Gallery in Hull. The curator kindly allowed me access to this huge canvass but sadly it is in need of restoration work and his reputation is now so low that the cost cannot be justified by the gallery. This is a great shame and my watercolour is another tribute to him and all the other now undervalued painters of the Victorian era.

While waiting for operations on my knees I took up painting to pass the time.
