This painting started life as a demonstration piece for Driffield Art Club. The theme of the demo was ‘How to enjoy painting outdoors’, with the emphasis on ‘enjoy’. For a demo I usually choose a subject I am confident with, so this is based on a painting I did a couple of years ago. It is a strong composition so ideally suited to the task at hand. The original piece is much more detailed and took a while to complete whereas, for this, I had just over an hour. Normally a demo piece is just that, but I liked the vitality in this one, so I spent another twenty minutes on it back in my studio. All I did was just adjust the tones a bit in the background and here it is.
LIGHT.......inspires me LEGEND.......intrigues me LANDSCAPE inspires me! I have letters after my name...F.O.L....but it is not 'Fellow of..' but 'Fell Off'...a ladder! While waiting for operations on my knees I took up painting to pass the time. Like so many other people I soon became hooked and embarked on a fascinating journey to learn how to improve and develop my style..a journey that never ends...but what a trip! I took the plunge in 2003 and with the support of my lovely wife I began to paint full time. Since then I have had the good fortune to exhibit in many prestigious galleries and shows, selling paintings all over the world.
