Artist's Description

What could be more redolent of spring than bluebells? Sewerby Park is literally on my doorstep and I stroll through its extensive grounds almost daily. I find though that I am continuously drawn to the ‘Woodland Walk’ which meanders through some very ancient trees indeed. They have been around a long, long time. More or less left to their own devices these woods are a mini wilderness where animals and plants can thrive relatively undisturbed. I find bluebells quite tricky to paint. They grow in the shade so it is sometimes quite difficult to make them stand out. I solved this by painting the foreground very carefully and then finished with some very loose brushwork that I hope capture the impression of this bright spring evening.

Since then I have had the good fortune to exhibit in many prestigious galleries and shows, selling paintings all over the world. I am also a Professional Associate Tutor of the Society of All Artists and...
