Artist's Description

This painting is based on a faded print owned by my mother. I have always been fascinatedby it especially since I began to paint myself. As the colours were faded I painted the scene bathed in moonlight. I later found out that the original oil painting was done by a Benjamin Williams Leader RA. Feted in his Victorian heyday, he has since fallen out of favour as 'old fashioned'. This is my tribute to a forgotten master.
