Tintern Abbey is situated on the banks of the delightful River Wye. This painting was done as part of my 'Inspiration' series and is based on an original oil painting by Benjamin Williams Leader RA. As ever it is not intended as a straight copy, but more as a tribute to a now largely ignored style of British landscape art.
LIGHT.......inspires me LEGEND.......intrigues me LANDSCAPE inspires me! I have letters after my name...F.O.L....but it is not 'Fellow of..' but 'Fell Off'...a ladder! While waiting for operations on my knees I took up painting to pass the time. Like so many other people I soon became hooked and embarked on a fascinating journey to learn how to improve and develop my style..a journey that never ends...but what a trip! Hi Warren. I suppose the style would be classed as 'romantic'. It is just a bee in my bonnet about those great painters who worked so hard at their craft and then are dismissed as 'old fashioned' or worse 'chocolate box'!
